BAYONNE, NJ – Two Bayonne police officers suffered minor injuries Tuesday in an incident that began when one saw a man break into a parked vehicle and two other people in a nearby actor while driving in 49th Street and Avenue E.

When the officer tried to confront and arrest the actor who broke in the parked vehicle, a fight ensued, reported Captain Eric Amato. The suspect, now assisted by a person from the vehicle, managed to escape and all three fled the scene in their vehicle after crashing into a parked vehicle and a marked police vehicle.

The driver of the suspicious vehicle refused to stop and initiated a motor vehicle pursuit that ended in Newark when the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

The officer involved in the battle suffered minor injuries to his hand, while the officer operating the police vehicle hit by the suspect vehicle suffered a hand injury.
