Susan Hasenauer has taken on the leadership of the schools in the Newark Central School District.

It’s a big step, but one that she says is about keeping the district moving.

“Teachers and administrators had to turn around quickly during this time and learn a lot of new things and apply a lot of new strategies to meet the different needs of their students,” said Hasenauer in a press release. “Parents and families had to do the same, including adjusting their lives and their timetables to support learners at home or with different school schedules. As the parent of two school-age daughters, I have experienced some difficulties. The only constant is that nothing has stayed the same and things change regularly. “

Progress and communication will go hand in hand under their leadership.

“My ultimate goal is to move the NCSD forward,” she continued. “I have no intention of losing sight of the values that focus on ‘Every Student, Every Day’. In fact, I look forward to hearing how people have adapted and changed to meet the needs of all students while holding onto the traditions that make Newark amazing. “

She says that progress will be easier if the district is honest with parents and the ward. That means getting involved in effective communication measures.

“I think communication is crucial and must be mutual. I will seek feedback on various listening and learning activities with internal and external stakeholders so that I can gather key information about the needs of students, educators, families, and community members. I know many suffer from COVID fatigue and when this is over I want to make sure students, staff, families, and community members feel engaged. If we work together we will ensure the safety of students and staff, and although successes may be judged slightly differently in these times, I believe that with a reliable compass we are able to take everything as a team and continue on the path to success and Cure. “
