Taft and Partners (“Taft”) announced today that it has opened a new office in Newark, New Jersey. The move reflects the strategic communications company’s longstanding commitment to both the Garden State and its major cities from south to north, said CEO and co-founder Pete Taft.
Taft was recently named the state’s fifth largest public relations firm by NJBIZ.
“Taft has dozens of customers in the US and Europe, but New Jersey is our heart. It really is our home base, ”said Taft, who started the company 30 years ago with his wife Mara Connolly Taft. “Our new anchor office in Newark is the next step in deepening that commitment.”
“While we have spent many years with customers large and small from New York to NJ to Philly, we also have a special history with major customers in the Newark area,” said Connolly Taft. “Our new office in the heart of Newark puts us in the middle of the new boom in energy and business in the city.”
Taft’s customers in central and southern New Jersey have long been served through their downtown Princeton offices and more recently through their larger Lawrenceville office. “With the addition of Newark, we’re in a much better position to help organizations there and further north in NYC and south Connecticut – better define their brands, reach their audiences and tell their stories,” added Connolly Taft added.
Taft has worked with a number of notable clients in the Newark area over the past several years, including Barnabas Health, Felician University and the Newark Regional Business Partnership, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation further south.
Taft’s new Newark office is located at 60 Park Place and is the hub of the growing economic development surrounding Military Park, adjacent to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Rutgers University in Newark and a short walk from Newark Penn Station.
Senior Counselor Oliver Quinn, who has led compliance, ethics and leadership communications projects for the company since 2009, will serve as General Manager of the Newark office.
“Our new office will help Taft dive into a market that remains a key strategic area for us,” said Quinn, who prior to joining Taft served as chief business ethics officer for Prudential Financial in Newark. He is also the current Chairman of the Advisory Board of Rutgers University-Newark. “It’s exciting to be part of this city’s business renaissance.”
