Delaware State Police are trying to identify two men who they say they robbed five restaurants and an eyewear shop on Capitol Trail in Ogletown in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

The robberies occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 4:15 a.m., the police said.

The five restaurants hit were Golden Palace; Buriram Thai and Sushi; Ole tapas; Tagpuan Filipino Cuisine; and Perkins.

Lock Optical eyewear store is in the same mall as Tagpuan and Perkins.

Jay Dye, the owner of Buriram Than and Sushi, said his business was hit just before 2:45 a.m. Thursday. The mean hit the window on the door, got into the restaurant, and searched it.

Dye has shared security footage with Delaware Online / The News Journal. It shows the men breaking into the shop and then one of the men prying open the register with what appears to be a crowbar while the other looks around the shop.

“It seemed like these people knew what they were doing,” said Dye.

Dye said $ 550 in cash was removed from the register. The restaurant is not open on Thursday. Dye said the shutdown meant missing out on sales of more than $ 1,000.

“We’re already fighting,” said Dye. “Everyone is fighting.”

Dye said his security system usually alerts him when there is unusual activity, but his phone has been silent overnight. He didn’t find out what had happened until the next morning when the owner of Ole Tapas, his neighbor, sent him a photo of the broken door window and the glass on the floor.

Dye said he was concerned about how easy it would be for men to break into stores and get out with money.

“I’m just worried that they will come back,” he said.

Police said the suspects took cash from all five restaurants and glasses from the glasses store. At Ole Tapas, they also took an i-pad with them, the police said. In Perkins, the men broke a glass window with a brick and then broke into the restaurant safe.

The police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Ripple at 302-365-8388.
