The Newark Food and Brew Festival is celebrating its 15th year on Saturday.
Beer tastings with special menu items are offered in 17 bars and restaurants on Main Street.
The pay-as-you-go event will take place from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The first 3,000 customers will receive a souvenir mug that can be picked up at the Academy Lawn or in a participating restaurant.
“Food & Brew enables people to get a taste of the many facilities Main Street has to offer in one night,” Megan McGuriman, partnership administrator for Downtown Newark, said in a statement. “It’s unlike any other Saturday night in downtown Newark.”
Strolling musicians entertain the crowd on Main Street throughout the event.
Parking at the main street meters and on urban lots is free all day.
Participating restaurants include: Arena’s Deli and Bar, Caffé Gelato, Catherine Rooney’s, Churrascaria Saudades, The Deer Park Tavern, Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen, Grotto Pizza, Homemade Cafe, Iron Hill Brewery, Klondike Kate’s, Mediterranean Grill, Mod Pizza, Pachamama , Santa Fe Mexican Grill and Bar, Stone Balloon Ale House and Tavern. The Delaware Growler liquor store is also participating.
