NEWARK, CA – Eater San Francisco regularly compiles lists of notable East Bay restaurants and published “16 New East Bay Restaurants To Try” last month. Rolling Snack of Newark made the list.
Eater SF calls Rolling Snack “real Sichuan-style street food”.
The restaurant is located in a mall next to the Newark 99 Ranch. Eater SF was enthusiastic about “various pieces of meat that are either braised in a stunningly hot master broth (e.g. pork ears, duck heads and pork knuckles with bones) or roasted on a spit and dusted with a ton of hot spices, also plentiful and at $ 0.60 or $ 0, 70 apiece (for the skewers) it’s pretty hard to go wrong.
“And for takeaway guests looking for a more substantial starter, the spicy fried frog legs seem to be the restaurant’s parade dish.”
Rolling Snack is located at 35201 Newark Blvd., Suite F. Their phone number is 510-896-8111.
The San Francisco publication noted that although some restaurants were permanently closed during the pandemic, “new restaurants continued to open, many of them tailored for this special moment, with take-away menus and spacious terraces an influx of exciting new eateries seen – mostly straightforward, relatively affordable places that show the breadth and depth of the varied cuisine of the region. “
Most of the highlighted restaurants are in Oakland and Berkeley, but in addition to Rolling Snack, restaurants in Castro Valley, Hayward, and Union City have also received awards.
