McDonald’s Newark and Ollerton offices are open today (May 24) despite ongoing animal rights protests in four of the company’s leading distribution centers.
Protesters have set up blockades at the centers in Hemel Hempstead, Basingstoke, Coventry and Heywood in the Greater Manchester area to prevent deliveries to 1,300 McDonald’s restaurants.
As a result, some of the fast food chain’s premises were closed today.

The protest, organized by the Animal Rebellion mass volunteer movement, began in the early hours of Saturday morning and has continued ever since.
Animal Rebellion hopes to encourage the company to switch to a plant-based menu.
Despite the disruption, McDonald’s restaurants on Lincoln Road in Newark and Old Rufford Road in Ollerton will remain open.
