A company plans to demolish three houses in Newark to build a 12-story housing estate.
Walnut Homes Realty, LLC filed an application with the City of Newark earlier this year for a proposal for a mixed-use project at 78, 80 and 82 Walnut Street between McCarter Highway and Mulberry Street.

The developer wrote that the three plots would be merged and 77 residential units would be built together with a retail space. Depending on the application, eleven parking spaces are also planned.

Project renderings and site plans have been released by the Newark City Government. One of the documents from Palermo Edwards Architecture shows that there would be one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, as well as a gym, rooftop terrace and lounge. Renderings show that some units would contain their own terraces.
The development company is registered at an address on Hermon Street. Nelson Espinoza is listed as an agent of Walnut Homes Realty, LLC on a certificate of education accompanying the application.
